I finally got it working today. I had to diasable the internal GPS and then use autobaud and then several reboots. But it is working fine at 19200 baud on com port 11. I very much like the new feature to use the check box to use the internal GPS. That is nice to have when one can't connect to submeter or RTK. However, when the box is unchecked, the com and baud rates stay the same as the iby bviator - Field - Hardware
Kathy, I am trying again working on this today. In looking in device manager, ports 1-10 are already being used by something else. 11-20 are free.by bviator - Field - Hardware
Scott, Still no signal from receiver. I have updated Mobile as you instructed. And in checking port settings in Device Manager, the serial to USB seems to be working fine on port 11. Is there something needed regarding the data bits, parity, stop bits, etc.? I am a bit stumped here.by bviator - Field - Hardware
Yes. Comport 11 is available to select.by bviator - Field - Hardware
Jeff, I think Martin is right. I have my Yuma's connected to my home network over Wifi. I share the drives/folders for file transfer. When I park my field truck in the office driveway, the Yuma's automatically hook up to the network. The Yuma's show up on my office commuter as if it was a separate thumb drive or hard drive. I then can copy any files, folders, shape files, etc. over the Wifiby bviator - Office - Mapping

I have a Yuma 2 running Mobile. We use a Pheonix 200 receiver with a 9 pin serial RS-232 port. Also using the trimble serial to USB adapter to connect the receiver to the Yuma 2. I know my Pheonix uses 19200. It looks like the serial to USB port is working fine according to Windows device manager (port 11). But I can't get the signal into the Yuma. Using the autobaud feature stops at poby bviator - Field - Hardware
No problem tthackeray. Martin Peters from Australia was the one that figured this out, so I just reposted. It seems these days everyone wants to transfer data from different software packages and displays. In the GIS world, shape files are still the true universal file format. To make it easy on us Farmworks users working with many other professionals using different software, can a new wiby bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
We import FW's shape files in ArcMap and ArcView regularly. Since FW's shape files are not projected, you have to create a *.prj file to along with the set of shape files. Martin describes it best here: Projection File for ArcViewby bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
I own Farmworks Desktop for our company. I have two employees in my company that I would like for them to also install the software on their field laptops. Does my purchased license cover these two employees or do we have to purchase the software again?by bviator - Office - Mapping
Orlow, I have been using some aerial companies in the past and at times they work great, but you have to line everything up with them, get shape files of field boundaries to them, and then wait until cloud cover dissipates. Then the imagery processing. Some companies offer very high resolution, others don't. Prices are coming down for the services. However, it must be a tough business, asby bviator - Office - Mapping
Thanks, Scott! Just got the unit in and followed your instructions and it seems to be logging perfectly. I did have to a little internal programming to disable the logging switch on the 505 and also reduced the logging interval rate. Got it working smooth now. Thanks again.by bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
Will Mobile read and log data from the Greenseeker model 505? Using a Yuma and plan on interfacing it with the RS-232 port. Greenseeker Model 505 Manual One additional question: Does the Greenseeker Handheld allow interfacing with Mobile to take readings every few seconds and record the points?by bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
Thanks Kathy! I got it working now. It was my bad. I had some wires crossed up and found the problem. That's why happens when an agronomist tries to be an electrician! Sorry to be a pain. The setup works great for general mapping and spraying!by bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
Hello Kathy: I followed your steps exactly and logging with the IFB switch is still not working. Another thing I tried is to use the Yuma's internal GPS instead of the external Raven Phoenix 200 antennae. Having the IFB plugged into the Yuma via serial port on Comm 1. Same thing. Logging is not affected by the 12V toggle switch. Just to check: the wrapped cable coming out of the IFB swby bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA

I am having similar problems as indicated in this previous post: Forum Post This is my second IFB implement switch and have yet to got it to work. I am using the latest Farmworks Mobile version. The IFB switch is the smaller one with a pass through 9 pin serial connector and a red/black 12 volt power wire. My setup includes a Trimble Yuma and a Raven Phoenix 200 GPS receiver. Nicole, Correct me if I am wrong, but at least in the older versions of Mobile legends for background layers could only be used for number attributes, not choice or text data. Maybe the latest versions are different? I use almost daily in my scouting background shape files in Mobile. It really is handy. But to do this, you need a workaround. It's not hard to do once the legend is set upby bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
That is a HUGE help. Thanks to you and Martin. This makes migration into ArcMap so much easier!by bviator - Office - Mapping
Short answer is yes. You just have to define the geographic coordinate system/projection in ArcMap. I routInely move shape files from Farmworks into ArcMap. I can't remember exactly, but I believe it's NAD 1983 and/or UTM and your zone (mine is 15N). I still get crossed on the difference between projection and coordinate systems.by bviator - Office - Mapping
The latest update added one of the most amazing features - the Bing Maps aerial background. Absolutely awesome. Images are as detailed and recent as they come. But it does require a constant Internet connection though. Kudos to Farmworks on this. It is definitively worth the upgrade.by bviator - Office - Mapping
Zaphod, It sounds like you don't trust the providers data? Or do you want to further analyze the grid sampling data? I think as a grower you wanting to really scrutinize the data and compare to your own yield maps and experience with those fields is a great thing. You asked for a third party. I am way down in the south, but a brilliant fellow by the name of Steve Hoffman is up in youby bviator - Office - Mapping
I just emailed Kathy an exported archived layer. I am using version 11.41 (old one). Whenever I load this layer in SitePro it locks up the program. This happens on all three of my computers, so I think the layer is corrupted. I really need this layer. Can this layer be fixed?by bviator - Office - Mapping
This very same topic keeps coming up over and over on this and other precision ag message boards. My experience with growers and different software says that the first software company that markets a fully functional field version allowing cloud based data sync will make a killing and dominate the market. Many production Ag professionals are not comfortable with traditional pc or Mac operatingby bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
I'll chime in here too. The new instant aerial imagery option to me is one of the best features added to the software in recent times. Definitely worth it to upgrade for this feature! Great job Farmworks!by bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
Thanks to Jo I got it logging, but in the map data display, only dipole 2 data is updating real time. Dipole 1 data is "------". Haven't calibrated or zeroed out the sensor yet. Will be doing that tomorrow.by bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
Martin, You are the bomb! Thanks! Seems you know more about using EM-38's with Farmworks than anyone else I have ever corresponded with. I may need to call or email you for a big job I am doing. And I also need to look you up when I make my bucket list trip to tour the Australian sugarcane industry. I recently scratched off my other bucket list item by touring Brazil.by bviator - Field - GPS Mapping, Scouting, Soil Sampling & VRA
Does anyone know if FW Mobile will read in EC data from an EM-38 "B" model? I have one coming for a job. I know Mobile has the EM-38 and EM-38 Mk2 models to select. The B model simultaneously reads conductivity and in phase magnetic. I am not all interested in logging the magnetic data, just EC.
