We switched to Apple computers more than 2 years ago. We keep one PC just to run a couple programs, but really want to get rid of it too. Everyone on the farm has iPhones and we have 2 iPads. We've had Android products and the Apple's are much more stable, they don't lock up on us, they just work day in and day out. Same thing for the desktop computers.by Ray Brunker - Field - Hardware
Is networking a realistic possibility in the near future (less than a year) or is it just on the wish list for some future development. I just don't want to get my hopes up if it's not really going to happen. We tried Funds at one time but opted to stay with QuickBooks. We are finding that QB's just doesn't handle some of the things we want to do but can't be tied down to only having one persoby Ray Brunker - Office - Accounting
I have entered grain tickets from several fields and have entered tickets where the grain was sold. Inventories all match up, but what I can't find is an easy way to get a total of the bushel amounts from the sales. Income and Sales report will list each load and the bushels and dollars for it, but at the bottom it only totals the dollars. I need to be able to get a quick total of the bushelsby Ray Brunker - Office - Accounting
That would probably throw off the input side by setting the landlord share to zero? We've got some landlords who get a simple percentage for the rent, we also have several who have a basic share crop where they split the expenses, but we pay for everything up front and then sell their grain, deduct their share of the expenses and pay them the net that is left. They just don't want to be botheredby Ray Brunker - Office - Accounting
I would prefer in our positon to put it back against the same farm it came from. Basically it's the rental payment for the land. We sell most of the grain in our name because we are dealing with brokers and in quanities that our individual landlords cannot. We basically pass on what ever we are paid for the grain and if we can get them a premium over what a local elevator would pay that is one ofby Ray Brunker - Office - Accounting

We just used Farm Works to enter scale tickets in the fall of 08. Our intention was to switch over our accounting for 09, but we got off to such a late start that we have decided to stay with the program we were using and just get everything in line and start fresh for 2010. We would like to use FW to enter grain tickets again this fall and also download yield maps. If I do a year end at thisby Ray Brunker - Miscellaneous Discussion
Scott, could you not set up an account to buy grain? Show the grain that you bought from a landlord as purchased inventory and add it to your grain bins? We do the same thing, although not always at harvest. Almost all of our landlords grain is sold through our account and we take off expenses and pay them for the balance.by Ray Brunker - Office - Accounting
We want to export our farms/field names and field borders to GS2 if possible. We want to be able to import our yield data and think that the easiest way to make sure everything is named the same is to just export the names from Farm Works and import them into our GS2's. Are we trying to do the right thing and how do we do it. FWIW we have nothing on the GS2's that we need to save right now soby Ray Brunker - Office - Field Records
