hagie 4600, boom section mapping to fujitsu tablet?????

I have a hagie with a raven 4600 with serial port and about version 11.34 loaded onto a fujitsu tablet computer, that I use to paint the field as I spray, have used this sytem in a coupe and other tractors for several years with an IFB switch. In the coupe I could only do the whole boom or nothing, I have the hagie set up this way now as well. I have been told that I can paint boom section at a time if I have the serial port in the raven which it does. So I am wondering if I need a newer version of software to do this, I also purchased a 20/20 monitor this spring which seems to have included some farmworks software as well, which I wonder if I could use for this application if needed. Also what is the specific cabling needed to do this, the fujitsu has a 9 pin connection as well as pcma card port with adapter to 9 pin as well. Then if I get that far, where do you go to set up the boom sections in the software on the fujitsu???

Go to the Config Tab (wrench). Open Advanced and then open the Advanced VRA.
2. Go to the Log Tab, make sure the option for Boom Sections (polygons) has been selected. Tap OK.
3. Also from Config go to the Display button and open 3D. Remove the check mark from the Fills box under Objects. Tap OK.
4. When on the mapping tab, make sure you are selecting the 3D View. Do you see the grid squares that would be representing the width of each boom section?

Here are some additional VRA Setups to double check as well:

1. Go to the Config Tab -- Logging ---VRT Setup

2. Either highlight the controller name for the 4600 that may already be displayed and click Edit or select the New button.

3. General Tab - Select Raven for the Type box. Comm Port - select the correct comport that is being used for the cable connecting to the Raven 4600.

4. Map Tab - Default Rate. Enter a rate for when GPS position is in a non prescribed area. map Units Adjsut map is used when you want the rate applied to be a certain percentage more or less then what the RX map is using, would state to apply. The map units is used when the RX map has a different unit of measure compared to how the controller is setup to apply in. Example: The RX states the rate is in pounds and the Controller is setup to apply in Tons so we would need to enter 2000 Map units = 1 controller unit. If both are set to same the conversion would be 1 = 1.

5. Applicator Tab - Feed Delay = time for product to feed through system and apply. Following Distance= feet from where GPS is located to where product is being disbursed. Swath Width = Actual Application Width (in your case lenght of entire spray boom).

6. Controller Tab - Select the correct Baud Rate that the controller is outputting, the 4600 should be 9600. Select Liquid or Granular.

7. Tap OK.

Beyond this, if there really is something that needs to be changed on the Raven 4600 controller, where the boom sections connect and communicate this needs to be answered by Raven Support. If it is an issue with the Raven 4600 sending data to Farm Works then the above steps should correct your issues. The newer versions of Site Mate are designed to setup the 4600 settings automatically.

Hope this helps!

I checked again and the first version that made the multiple boom selections was vs. 2008. To get this option you will need to purchase an update. I am certain you will like all the changes made in the SM since the version 11 or 12. I have attached a link on all the vs. changes since the 11 that may be of some help to you.

SM version changes since vs. 11

If you are using an IFB are you really using SM VRA, or just using the New Scouting Job button to log a coverage map? If you plan on using the VRA Advanced to setup the Boom sections in the new version, you will need to use the VRT setup and use the VRA Job button, when setting up the Controller for the 4600 Raven unit, from the Advance VRA there will be an option from the General Tab to only log when Spray Boom or Spreader Switch in On, this needs to be marked. From the Advanced Logging options you will not use the option to Enable Implement Swich. There is extra wiring information aout the Controller and connected to a Toggle or Master Switch that I would need before we can go any further with SM VRA to stop logging.

The PP 20/20 Viewer will only support the Seed Sense 20/20 Data for reading and writing of job data. Data logged from Site Mate would not sync or import as backgrounds into this software. As for the 822 cable, this is the cable we recommend. However, you may want to contact the dealer that sold you the Raven 4600 contoller, they may be of better help on this cable.

The version 11 did not have the option to log the Boom section polygons.
