I have recorded my calves birth and weaning through those screens to their dams. How do I now transfer them into the breeding herd? Sorry for the delay in this response but I wanted to verify this with the programmers. The refreshing/updating has been corrected and will be in the next update which will be available within the next couple of weeks. Your data is fine -- it just did not refresh properly.

You can identify part of the group by the follwoing:

1. In the Inventory Tab, choose the group that is unassigned.
2. A box will appear that will allow you to enter how many are to be defined. Enter the number of which you have not entered elsewhere.
3. Define these animals with their IDs and information. Click OK.

For the animals that have already been entered, you will not be able to re-use their IDs. They must be unique, otherwise there would not be a way to keep the data separate by animal. Since you have already identified these animals, the balance should be removed as these are just 'extra'.

When you are identifying a group of animals you can use the FILL button in the Identification window. This will allow you to enter a starting number and each animal ID will then be incremented by "1".

1. Go to the Inventory Tab.
2. Select the Animal Type and choose All for location, groups and animals.
3. In the window below you will see animals that are unassigned. Highlight the first group. Select the Identify button at the bottom.
4. This will bring up a window for you to identify each animal and fill in the details.
5. Repeat this for each group.
6. Once you have all animals identified, you will then be able to go to the Animal Type window and select the box that shows "All Animals have IDs".

If you are needing each individual calf to have an ID, then go to the Add/Edit Menu and select Animal Types. Select the correct Animal Type from the Drop Down List. I suspect that the All Animalshave ID numbers or names is not checked.

If you have already recorded the Weaning, (which is where you have the option to transfer the calf to the new group or location) it may be possible they have already been transfered. Lets start by selecting the Query Menu. Make sure we have selected Show All, Show Both, Show Both and Show General. Then set the Location and Group Boxes to Show All. Do we see the Calf ID listed in the Animal ID drop down list? If so, select the Setup Tab. Review the Location and Group box to verify where they are located. You can use the Inventory Tab and then the Transfer button. It may be possible that we did not select the correct location during the weaning process and they got moved to the Unassigned location.
