Lorra and Jim Martens, near Inman, Kansas, have been Farm Works Software users since 1994 and dealers and consultants since 1996. In addition to Farm Works Software, Martens Farms offer GPS equipment for farmers and agri-businesses, related accessories, classroom training for Farm Works users, and consulting services. Their goal is to help farmers use record-keeping and technology to manage farming enterprises, make better farming decisions, and improve profits. Lorra and Jim work together with customers to define the best match of software and hardware for their particular budget and farming needs with flexibility toward future options. The Martens Farms website offers secure online sales of many of their products and services, and also features tips, downloads, and other useful information. In 1994, after much discussion, they decided it was time to find better ways to manage the farm as a business. Choosing Farm Works Software was an easy decision - no other affordable farm software handled the financial and field information in one integrated package. In 1996 they put their growing expertise to work for others. Jim and Lorra became Farm Works dealers and consultants and began helping other farmers make the most of the Farm Works programs. In 2003, the Martens earned the position of #1 U.S. dealer for Farm Works Software. They believe that focusing on their customers and doing honest business is what has made them successful. Lorra and Jim use Farm Works practically every day on their farm, and are enthused about helping other farmers see the real benefits gained. They are committed to providing exceptional service and support to their clients, and to making a positive contribution to their community of fellow farmers. Martens Farms clients include small and large farmers, agri-business corporations, foresters, waste management organizations, and research groups. Most are in the central states of the U.S., with other clients ranging around the world. Clients appreciate their understanding of the real business issues farmers and agricultural businesses face, and their in-depth expertise with Farm Works Software. To read feedback from clients, see www.123farmworks.com/testimonials.htm. A major focus of Martens Farms is training and one-on-one consulting.
These services help new users get up and running quickly and effectively
with the software and hardware, and help current users learn new skills
as their needs evolve. Lorra has worked with countless farmers and ranchers
on a consulting basis. She uses that consulting experience and the Martens'
farming experience to help producers set up records, reports, and processes
that are most useful to their specific operation. Training and consulting
are offered at client locations, the Martens' farm, in classroom settings,
and over the phone. One-on-one, on-site consulting sessions are particularly
productive. Many clients send their Farm Works project files by email
or the Martens' online dropbox for a "quick fix" or for a phone-based
training session using their own farm data. The Martens also offer a "Quick
Start" package for new users which includes basic setup for a typical
chart of accounts, sample layers, sample layer patterns and colors for
maps, several custom reports, and other handy "tweaks" to save
users time and effort.
