Resources for Farm Trac users

* U.S. EPA Pesticide Product Information Query Site Interactive online lookup of EPA-registered chemicals by name, manufacturer, or EPA number, courtesy of the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. If you prefer to do your queries off-line, the database this site uses is available online from the EPA Office of Pesticide Programs.
* TerraServer.com, is your online source for satellite and aerial imagery. Search, browse, and buy images, prints, and more...or just let TerraServer.com take you around the world!
* CDMS Chem Search-Web offers product label information for over 1,600 crop protection and specialty products including 24Cs, Section 18s and Supplemental labels. Contractual relationships with over 100 manufacturers ensure a database with a variety of products that are updated daily.   Click here if you'd like to order ChemSearch - Web.
* http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/businessmanagement/DF6696.pdf - Machinery Cost Estimates - This document comes from the University of Minnesotta Extension.  It discusses how to compute operating costs for equipment.  It includes tables of estimated operating costs for different types of equipment.  This may be useful for Farm Trac users who do not have Farm Funds.

Resources for Farm Site users

* Waypoint+ is a free software program that will convert Garmin waypoints to a text file that can imported into Farm Site using Generic Import.
* GeoCommunity - Translators - The Geo Community includes a number of useful GIS translator programs as well as other software available for download. Some of the translation software includes the ability to translate MapInfo Interchange Files (.mif files) and ArcView .e00 files into ArcView Shape Files (.shp files).
* USGS Website - The USGS provides Digital Ortho Photo Quads (DOQs). These are high resolution image files that are available for a fee. When going to the website use "Photography (Aerial)" for the Category and "Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles" for the Data Set. If the maps will be used with Farm Site or Site Pro, be sure to order them in the "Geographic Tagged Image File Format". This data includes GPS referencing information that will be used to automatically calibrate the images in Farm Site and Site Pro. Note that maps can be ordered via CD or downloaded from the website.
* USDA NRCS Soil Survey Geographic Database provides free digital soil map data for Geographic Information System applications via Internet download.
* http://www.guthcad.com.au Software available for translating .dxf files and Shape Files.
* Eagle View Maps is the source for highly accurate SECTION/Township/Range grid polygon data that you can use as a map layer in your Farm Site and Farm Trac software. Seamless 1 meter eDOQQ digital aerial photo data and oversized BIG aerial photo prints are also available.
* Envoy Data offers PC Cards and card readers for precision agriculture systems.
* http://ortho.gis.iastate.edu/ Iowa Geographic Image Map Server This website has a great deal of free map data (including some recent, 2002 imagery) for the state of Iowa.
* www.ohioview.org - OhioView is a source for satellite imagery and other data for residents of the state of Ohio.

http://www.agrc.utah.gov/  Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center - The Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center (AGRC) provides a wide range of Geographic Information System (GIS) support to the State of Utah.   This includes map data that can be used in Farm Site for people who farm in Utah.
* http://www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/download.html - This is a free download of the Hyperterminal program.  Hyperterminal is included with most versions of Windows prior to Vista.  This is a communications program that can be used to log data from a serial port as well as to test if a serial port is working or if a device is outputting data.  This link is provided primarily for MS Vista users since Microsoft no longer includes Hyperterminal with Vista.

* Windows Mobile Device Center: If you have Windows Vista, your synchronization settings will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center. Windows Mobile Device Center is available through the Windows Mobile Device Center page.
* If you have a 2190, 2490, 2790 series iPAQ, you will need Active Synch 4.5 - ActiveSync 4.5 is the latest sync software release for Windows Mobile devices. The ActiveSync 4.5 delivers new features to improve the synchronization experience for customers. Support for ActiveSync will not be available from Microsoft.

* GPS Utility - This is a freeware/shareware utility that is useful for transferring GPS data from GPS receivers such as those made by Garmin and Magellan.
