Every year we participate in a program where so many bushels of our production are donated to our local church. We don't claim the income because the donated product is actually sold in the churchs' name - much like a land lord. We don't want to set the church up as a landlord because each year, the percentages of their share may change. For example, last year, they recieved the actual bushesby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Kathy, Project is uploaded to the site. Under accounting:general ledger:income statement, you'll notice the issue right away. The "% of Expense" is not right. It takes the $ figures from the actual expense and multiplies it times 10. None of my other projects do this. I believe I'm on the most current download as well. Thanks! Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Kathy, how do I send the project to you. I need to know why it's not providing the % of income. autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
I'm thinking it's the project since I none of the other clients' income statements do this. I'll be in touch on Monday to see if we can figure out what's happening. Thanks! Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Have a client who is looking into adding stock/mobile to help manage 1000 sheep ranch. He would like to use a Juno as the hand held. Any users out there who are using stock for sheeps herds? Do you like/use the Juno? Is it durable? Will it run a bit slower with that much data? Not very familiar with it and needed some thoughts. Thanks. Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office/Field - Livestock
As a former teacher, my first thought is to have your students bring in data from their own farms/operations. It helps on two fronts. #1 - students are putting what they learn into practice. It's a great jumping off point for students to learn to make management decisions. Also, it's a great communication tool between parents/operators and the kids/students. You would have to provide specifiby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Miscellaneous Discussion
I tried printing an income statement for a client yesterday. I have the total dollars listed but instead of having the % of income next to that, I have the $amount X10,000. For example the line would look like this: Feed expense $7544.15 75,441,500.00 I have checked other client files and don't have that issue. kathy, While it does make sense I don't have the time nor the inclanation to re-enter ALL of my grain sales. The sales show up when I run a report in the GL, but just not when I use the "edit" feature...in the check book register or the transaction maintenence features. Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Mitch, I think you're right about the timing of 2012 version updates. I didn't really pay attention because my USP is not due until later in the season and I didn't update in a timely manner. Thanks for letting me know that I wasn't totally loosing my mind! Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
I am reviewing some of my grain sales from last year and have noticed that the actual sale does not show up. The grain check off shows and any other deductions or additions I have on the sale show up, but the actual sale from the Bin isn't there. The bottom right will show the account as being unbalanced, but I am able to close out of the transaction as if I did balance. Glitch??? Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Does FW currently have any type of partnership with Outback Systems? Can we import data from an outback system into farmworks? For the technologically illiterate...if we CAN import (read) data, I'm assuming we can also write (export) data? Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Field - Hardware
I think I'll use the "gain/loss" option. That makes the most sense to me from a tax standpoint. I'll check with the client as well, but just wasn't sure where to start. Thanks! Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
What is the proper way to sell a share of Machinery? If I paid for 100% of the machinery and then sold 1/3 shares, how do I do that? Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Lynda - something I've adapted to doing is to create a "bin" called "Corn harvest bin" (or whatever crop your harvesting). All of my harvested grain goes to that bin. Then I'm able to shuffle the grain where I need it. It may be duplicating Kathy's above suggestion, but it "looks" different to me and seems a lot more "clear" as to where I moved the grainby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Field Records
I didn't know that. Thanks, Kathy!by Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Judy, We have started to actually break down our "overhead" a bit more to help accomodate different cost. For example, we used to have one "overhead" equipment that we used. At the end of the year we had a terribly high dollar/acre cost that we really didn't know what it included. We are going to now have an "overhead fuel", "overhead maintence" "gby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Kathy, The items are not necessarily "retired" Under the accounting side, if we check the box that states "Item is not used in farming job" then the only place that it shows up is on the depreciation schedule. I understand about placing those items in the "other" category and have done that, but just wanted to make sure I was not overlooking a step in the process.by Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
What are your recommendations for allocating repair costs to items that are not used in farming jobs? For example, I have a pick-up that I use on my farm but it's not used for a farming job specifically. If i click the button that says "Not used in farming job" under the accounting side, the item then won't show up in my equipment tree. however, I will still wish to allocate repairs,by Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Thanks for the information and for checking on my request. i just need to clarify some things in my mind..(difficult I know, but bear with me!) When I enter a field in Trac, I list the total acres in the field as well as the total number of tillable aces. Which number does FW default to for a crop enterprise? total field acres or total tillable acres? If I'm not able to plant all of the tiby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Field Records
Spent sometime working on our program last night and am asking for a few features. I know I've asked this before, but I'll keep asking...is there ANYWAY we can pull a feed/grinder or implement/personell and apply it to an animal group much like we do a field in trac? I spent quite a bit of time having to create new blends because one or two ingredients changed. Then my blend list is REALLY lonby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Field Records
I don't know if anyone else is having trouble with opening the new manuals, but I only get a blank white screen when i click on the manual link from the FW website. Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Again, I'm a little behind the times with some of these posts, but I have a simple request regarding check numbers... I have several entries that have the same cost each month and only the check number and date need to be changed. I currently have the ability to change the AMOUNT of a check without having to re-enter the details, but in order to change the check number, I have to open (or cliby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
I've had several clients ask about updating the harvest destinations option on a job property. Currently, only one destination can be chosen. We personally created a "Harvest bin" per crop and then moved crops around once harvest was completed, but it's a little frustrating to do this. Any chance this change could be coming soon? Thanks, Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Field Records
I wanted to just look around the new web-store. When i clicked the link under 'store' -order now' tab - it took me to a blank page. You may need to check the link. Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Miscellaneous Discussion
Kathy, it does make sense. I don't want to have to click the check Icon. I want to just be able to change the check number in the same way that I can change the dollar amount.by Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
I'll add a few more that are probably more specific to my clients... 1. I don't use Stock, but have to create a crop called "pasture" to account for the feeding of my cattle during the summer months. We need an "Animal units per month" or "AUM's" Typical cow/calf unit is = 1 AMU (A yearling = .7 or .8 AMU). Then I can allocate the number of cow/calf pairs toby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Miscellaneous Discussion
When i put a group of cattle out on pasture, how do I get feed value and dollar value back to the cows from the pasture? You can't "farm" the cattle out to the pasture and you can't allocate anything to the cows. I'm just not sure how to go about that. thanks, Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office/Field - Livestock
I am using the little pencil next to the vendor button that shows the last 10 transactions. By going that route, I am not able to change the check number. I know I can change things in the register, but in the payments and purchases box, you can't change the check number. Autumnby Kenton & Autumn Hofer - Office - Accounting
Another suggestion to the accounting side when entering payments/purchases: I have the ability to 'edit' the amount of a check in the payment/purchase box but would also like the ability to just edit the check number as well. Often times there are monthly expenses that go to the same account for the same amount. I only need to change the date of the transaction and the check number.
