Sorry if your instructions were a little confusing. Please follow these steps:

If you do not want to make changes to the history of the field you will do the following: You will create 2 new field names in the tree view. Display the original field name that you want to split into 2 fields, go to this map on the mapping screen. Right Click on the map, Copy. Then go to the first new field in the tree view,Right Click, Edit Boundaries. Go to the mapping screen. Right Click, Paste Addition, Save and Close. Then go to the treeview and Right Click on the 2nd new field name, Edit Boundaries. Go to the mapping screen, Right Click, Paste Addition. Save and Close. Go to the first new field name in the tree view, Right Click, Edit Boundaries. Use the Exclude Polygon tool and trace around the portion of the field that you DO NOT want.Right Click, Finish, Save and Close. Right Click on the Saved portion of the field boundary and Copy. Go to the 2nd new field name in the tree view, Right Click, Edit Boundaries. Go to the mapping screen, Right Click and select Paste Subtraction. This will leave the other portion of the field you want to keep. Save and Close.

I suspect you were having trouble because there were dashes in your post, which are not recognized on the Forum so stops after the word past the dash mark.

Thanks,
