Fertilizer Properties in Farm Works Calculations

I am having a little trouble following the logic behind fertilizer properties in Farm Works Office. For example, I create a new fertilizer product Supplies. I create the fertilizer on the General tab. Call it Fertilizer_1. Set the type as Fertilizer/Lime. Set the purshased Unit to pounds, set hte distributed unit to pounds. 1 pound = 1 pound. Now on teh Fertilizer Tab, I add a nutrient, for example Nitrogen, and set the Percent to 20%. I do not see where the 20% N is factored in by the formula. I calculate N rate as a function of yield expectation and nitrogen factor, so I am caculating pounds of N to add. All my maps are in pounds N, not pounds of product. Is the %N value merely used for labeling? Does it not apply in the calculation?
