Curt,
I would take a person and enter a field record and use the "Notes" button in the Farming box to enter text notes about the Hail. I would also use the "Job Name" to enter something like "Hail Damage" or "Weather" or something. After the job is recorded, go to the Tree-view on the left and go to the field and crop and find the job. Right-click on the job and select "Create Layer". This will take you to the Map tab. You will have a map of the boundary of the field with drawing tools. I would use the "Exclude Polygon Tool" to cut out the parts of the field that did not have hail damage. This will leave you with a map of the hail damage that will be linked to the job/field records.

I hope this helps!
