ArcView Shape files do not have the capability of keeping the Text labels that are added to a layer view in Farm Works Office. The ArcView Shape file contains three separate File extensions (.dbf, .shp and .shx). The .DBF file is the one that carries the Data Base Files. Meaning the layer defined attributes assigned to the map. Farm Works uses this information to create labels for the layer display, but cannot be saved into the actual Shape File. Hope this makes sense.
