Default pay rate

I had just finished recording a paycheck when we had a power outage. For that set of books, the program (version 2009.11.428) will no longer automatically enter the default pay rate and on their payroll check stubs the current qty, current amount, ytd quantity, and ytd amount are zeros. The payroll reports, however, seem to have all the correct information. I tried the Alt. A and Alt. D or F sequence, but that did not seem to make any changes. Any suggestions as to what I might try.
