I am currently experimenting with a Lenovo ThinkPad. It has built in GPS but has a hard time staying connected due to the fact Microsoft GPS drivers don't output to a port recognized by the internal software. There is third party software that is made to fix this but it is scetchy I've had to go to an external antenna with usb port hookup. The ThinkPad has 2 usb ports. One is a micro and one is normal size. I use the micro for the charging and will put a hub on the other for gps and raven controller hookup in the sprayer this spring. Windows 8.1 is still new enough that I am still looking for patches for the small gps antenna that will prevent it from going down constantly. Like you I was using Ipaq's and lost the one one with the gps antenna. When it came time to do soil samples this fall I scrambled to find a substitute that wouldn't break the bank. I will keep you posted as I progress. If you have had success of your own I would like to know more.
