Hi,

A Couple of comments based on my experience.

USB - Serial Adapters: I have used these a fair bit, and not had any major issues. The biggest problem is that it can be a bit random as to what com port number windows assigns to the USB adapter.

I Always have a quick look in device manager before opening Site Mate, just to see what number it is today!

Problems occur when it decides it should be COM14 or similar, because Site Mate doesnt list number that high!

With the bluetooth-RS232 adapters I have had a lot of success. I have one attached to an EM38 that "beams" the data into a 2210 iPAQ. This is a 100% reliable setup. Before buying one of these, just make sure your printer is not using a serial over bluetooth connection, because most bluetooth stacks on laptops etc only support 1 serial connection by bluetooth at a time.

The same problem with high COM port numbers also can apply with Blue Tooth.

You CAN change the COM number allocated in the registry, but it has BIG potential to screw things up...be warned!!!

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Martin.
