loan report issue

I entered a transaction for a land payment which included principal and interest into my account register. I then viewed the loan history report and it was correct. Later I received information that my principal and interest amounts were incorrect. I made the correction in the account register and then viewed the loan history report and found the loan amount and principal amount paid were the same. There was no interest amount paid. I voided the entry completely and entered the transaction with the correct principal and interest amounts, viewed the transaction in the loan history report and all was correct. Should the loan history report reflect the change I made without having to void a transaction to view the entry correctly?
