Scott,

I realize and understand your first paragraph explanation.

As for your second paragraph.
I guess I haven't worked this system by entering a total on the last line, selecting the Details and entering the details there. Seems kind of cumbersome to have to select the details button and go right into the purchase or sales window for the details. Then the windows are bouncing back and forth between acct reg and details. I see what you are saying here though about defaulting to correct acct.
I have always just selected the purchases icon within the acct reg because I am usually entering multiple purchases. But when I do this and select the check icon in how you paid, it defaults to the checking acct at the top of the list within the chart of accts. Same holds true for the sales and deposit window when selected from the acct reg.
I know this is just an acct reg thing that I was wishing for the acct default when working within a certain acct reg window.

I know there are a lot of ways to skin this cat, and redundancy is overwhelming sometimes.
