If you have livestock as well as crops, try the following: 1. Set up an overhead icon as was explained in the previous example, except call it "Overhead - Crops". 2. Set up a second overhead icon called "Overhead - Livestock". This icon will be just like the first except the Charge Unit will be either "Head sold" or "Lbs. Sold".
Whenever you get a miscellaneous expense you will need to split it between the two overhead icons. You will need to come up with a fair split that represents what percent of your overall income comes from each area of your farm and use that percent to split these misc. costs between the two overheads.
Since you can't farm your livestock with the icon, at some point (probably at the end of each year) you should go into Allocate Inputs (under the Enterprise menu) and select Equipment and select the "Overhead - Livestock" icon and enter either the Total Number of head sold or the Total Lbs sold in the Quantity to Allocate area.
Select all of your livestock groups and record the transaction (make sure the appropriate quantities wind up with each group of livestock - you will probably want to print enterprise statements before you record this).
