Most people will setup the livestock as a piece of equipment for harvesting. Farm to the field so it creates a harvested crop qty in the inventory. Then use the Accounting-Inventory maintenance and transfer the crop to supply. This is when you can place a cost to the harvested crop (equal to the cash rent). Once the supply is in inventory can record a feeding to the Livestock groups to get this feed cost to show on the Livestock enterprise.

If you do not want to go to that process, you can keep this simple. When paying for the Cash Rent expense, you can allocate directly to the Livestock Group. This process will not show as a feed cost however, but an input cost.

Let me know which direction you would like to take if needing further instructions on either process.
