It sounds as though you have lost GPS signal even for a short temporary period, which cause the path line to shoot a line to 0.00 Lat and 0.00 Long with is off the coast of Africa (South west) then when signal has been regained the path goes back to normal location. I would start out by trying to figure out why we could be lossing GPS signal. However, there is a setting in Site mate and Mobile to stop that line from logging that far away.

1. Go to the Config Tab (wrench) and select Settings
2. Open the GPS settings
3. Select the Quality Tab
4. Check the box called Maximum HDOP and enter a small number such as 25.
5. Tap OK

This will not help with keeping GPS signal - but will stop logging path after reaching this Max. HDOP of 25.

This job/mapping layer can be edited in FW Office which has the trouble with the unwanted line using the Split Line tool and deleting the unwanted portion of line that logs to the 0 lat/log and back.
