Opening up *.shp file in Site Mate Basic

I failed in my recent effort to open up a layer in Site Mate Basic that I had
created in Site Pro. I created the lines in a *.gpl format of three edges of
the field. Next I loaded the lines into Site Pro by importing the Site Mate
*.gpl file. My mission was to measure 12 acres, using the three sides I had a
boundary on, then finding where the fourth line had to be to complete the twelve
acres. From Site Pro I managed to get it pretty exact. Next, with the measured
lines on the active layer, I exported them to an Arc View Shape file. From
Site Mate, I started a new file, "RI2C.gpl" and loaded a background shape image,
"RCI2C.shp". Everything seemed to go off normally, only no lines show up in
Site Mate, I mean NOTHING. To be able to back track, load soil maps, last
years zone boundaried, etc. help me figure this out.
