I was wondering if it is necessary to retire an input each year since it will have a different cost the following year. For example, If I purchase a variety of seed corn one year at one price, and plant the same variety the following year but it has a different cost, should I just change the price of the input from one year to the next or retire it and make a new one for the following year to keep my records straight?
