This has always been a contemptuous task within the program, but I don't think we will be able to get away from it as there are too many variables to account for.
Test weight and moisture levels are too variable and change the amounts coming out of the bins.
Unless you have a scale in the yard and weigh every load going into the bin, we are just best guessing what we put into them. It has become a little easier with the advent of yield monitors on the combines, if they are calibrated correctly, but still have a margin of error that has been reduced.
As grain condition may change a little bit in the bin, the weight going in may still not equal what comes out.

With inventory being tied to the original harvest jobs from the fields, this is going to be a living thing until we get that warehouse receipt which puts a final number on the commodity.
