It sounds as though you don't have room on the disk that you are trying to save the scanned image onto. Try the following:

1. If you're installing the Packard Bell scanning software to a floppy disk, then install it to the hard drive instead. Not only will running the program from a floppy drive slow things down, but it will also give you very little available disk space on the disk to save to.

2. Check the resolution that is being used when scanning the map. We recomend using 100 - 150 DPI. Any higher than this will not make a noticable difference in the image but will take up a significant amount of disk space.

3. If you can save the file in a .JPG format then use that. Alternately a compressed .TIF will also work well. A normal .TIF will work but will take more disk space.

If you continue to get the message try saving the image to your hard drive. If you can save the file to the hard drive but not to the floppy disk then make sure that you are using a blank disk. If you are then try reducing the resolution further.

With regards to your reference to using a word processor or DOS, this should have absolutely no effect on your getting the map scanned. Also, there would be no benefit of running Farm Works on the school computer that you are scanning with.
