There are times when calibrating may change the appearance of
scanned ASCS maps. If in calibrating you are rotating or scewing
your maps, this can often reduce the smoothness in the appearance
of the map. The reason is that the pixels of the map are being
moved and shifted. You may want to play around with the options on
the Enhance menu in Calibrate to Smooth, Sharpen or Improve the
Contrast of your map to see if this might help the quality.
