background imagery

I just downloaded the new versions 12 for Office and Moblie. When I open office and turn on the background imagery, only small portions of the area I'm viewing will show up with an aerial image. And seems to be opening blocks of imagery that aren't even in the area I'm zoomed into. Once I zoom out a little then I can see a couple random blocks of imagery that were loaded. Sometimes nothing will show up. I read a previous post about firewalls, so I went to windows firewall and made an exception for Farmworks Office, but still have the same issue. Any thoughts?

Re: background imagery

I actually downloaded Office onto my laptop (I've always had it on my desktop). I still have the same issue now on the laptop. I click the background button and it just sits there and nothing happens. I can't even zoom in and out while the background button is checked. As soon as I uncheck it, all the zooming in and out I did happens rapidly, like the map view is just locked up and thinking and as soon as I turn it off it processes all the key stokes I made. If I let it sit for a long time with the background on, eventually the screen turns a little gray and then I can't view anything, can't zoom in or select another field or anything until I uncheck the background. I tries turning off the firewall and my internet secutirty and it still doesn't work. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but the Office shortcut icon has a yellow and blue shield on it now that I installed it on my laptop with windows 7. I did got to properties and change the administrator setting. Every time I open Office and user account control window pops up and asks if I want to let Office make changes to my computer. I always click allow. I still wonder if it has to do with me using a USB modem from Verizon. Whenever I check the background and then go check on the data transfer with the internet connection, no data is being transferred. I don't know. Probably easier just to forget about it for now. Maybe I'll take the laptop by a wifi connection and see if that makes any difference.

Click on the button called Browse and from the location box click after the C:\farmproj and add 2012. So you should see C;\farnporj2012. Click OK. Continue with the installation process. Restart windows. If running Windows 7 - before opening this new install, right click on Shortcut and select Properties. Click on the Compatibility Tab. The only box we want checked is Run this program as an administrator. Apply and OK. Then open FW. There will not be any project selections. Create a new blank project and then open. I did that. Tried turning all of that stuff completely off (firewall, spyware and antivirus) and still didn't work. Tried setting farmworks office, the calibrate.exe and the website bing all as exceptions in the firewall as well and that did the same thing, too. As soon as I hit the background image button the computer locks up, Office shows "program not responding" up on the title bar, and then Office automatically shuts down with a Microsoft error message. Pretty frustrating!

They have several years of downloadable "FSA" orthos, and can include FSA field boundaries and soil data as well. For a consultant like you, using my partner link at [www.suretymaps.com] will get you a $400/year subscription for only $300. Farmers often go for the monthly or quarterly plan and I don't have a special price for them on that. But several just go for the yearly plan as well.
