Display the yield map as top layer.
2. Right click on Field Name on left hand corner and select Edit boundaries.
3. Map tab will change to Map - Editing.
4.
Re: newbie can't find "information" tab

Thank you Kathy, you are my hero for the day.

A couple more questions. It seems I must create a boundary before starting. In step 14, you wrote "Right click and select Add layer." Did you mean "add label"?

I am doing this for crop insurance and what I am actually after is the total production in each area. When I multiply out the area times the average yield of the different areas and add up the total, I come up with a different total than the actual total from harvest. Crop insurance requires this to be within 2%. I have done two fields, one came out within .8%, so its good. The other field is 5% short when I multiply out the areas. The difference between the actual yield and the yield monitor yield was only about .6% short, so the calibration was good. Do you have any suggestions to improve accuracy?

Re: newbie can't find "information" tab

It sounds as though we need to create an area layer and creating the pivot area as close as we can. Then we can create an Area View of the yield data to get that acreage and average yield by area. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Right click on Field Name (green patchwork square icon) from the Red Barn Tab and select Add layer - Add polygon/area layer.
2. Type a description such as dry and irriagted maps.
3. Click the Add button in lower right hand corner.
4. Click into the blank box in the Type column and select Size. Type a description such as Acres and click OK.
5. Highlight the Field Name and then move to the Mapping screen. Make sure the Boundary layer is displayed as top layer. Go to the section beneath mapping screen and click on the Layers Icon (right above the information tab). The Displayed Layer box needs to have the Boundary layer listed first. Double left click on Boundary layer to move on top of the yield map/job.
6. Right click on the Field map and select Copy.
7. Go back to the Red Barn Tab and double left click on this new layer we created from step 2-4.
8. Click on the Edit Layer button (green pencil).
9. Right click on the Mapping screen and select Paste Addition. Click just the Save button. This will copy the entire field map to this new layer. Slide the Transparancy bar in lower right hand corner to the right until we can find the yield data that may represent the irrigate section of the field
10. Click on the Split tool button. Then click on the small drop down arrow button and select Split-Circle Radious which will make you start drawing the pivot from center of field or use the Split - Circle Diameter which will make you start in a corner of a field and drag toward opposite side/corner of field diaginal. Once the desired pivot has been drawn, click the Save and Close button.
11. Move the yield/job layer to top of Displayed layer box.
12. Move to the View box. Click on the Dry Yield Attribute. Click on the Add View button. Select Area.
13 Click the button called Browse. Open the correct Field Name and highlight the layer called Dry and irrigated map. Click OK.
14. This will provide a view of colors representing the different yield averages by dry and irrigate sections of Field. Click the Green pencil button (Edit layer). Click on the Select (pointer tool button) and rubber band left click in upper left hand corner of screen.hold down on the left mouse button and drag to Lower right hand corner. Let go of button. The entire map will show with cross hatch pattern. Right click and select Add layer. Check the box for the Dry Yield and click OK. Click the Save and Close button. Now you will see the average yield by area. Left click inside the pivot part of map. In lower right hand corner will be a box with letter A showing the acres.
15. We could also go to the Box called legend and click the Edit legend button (wrench). Check the box for Range Count. Click OK. Now I believe you should also see the acres showing for each color.

Sorry this was so lengthy, but wanted to give you taste on what kind of maps and other features you can use within Farm Works.

Hope this makes sense.

If you can tell what type of yield data/monitor system this came from I can be of better help to you.
