Accounting option versus quick books

Hi, I wanted to know whether it is possible to export accounting information to other accounting software like quick books, pastel or even sage.
At the moment, it is not very possible to perform an audit on farm works accounts because most auditors use the commercial programs listed above, and frankly, most of our farmers now prefer to use such software; much as they would have taken farm works.
Any help?

Thanks a lot

Are there plans maybe for the future? Most of our farmers down here are actually shying away from the accounting option; but they are taking up mapping.

Thanks

Kipngetich

Other reports will have an export button available when viewing the print preview.

I hope this helps.

Some of these reports can be exported into spreadsheet formats such as Excel, xls, or csv, or txt, which may in turn be manipulated into the others.
I will have to surrender to others who might know more than I on this subject.

Good luck,

That is the Million dollar question.
If we are dealing with a lot of data, some guys would rather have the soft copies than the printed versions, but that is down here.

Thanks again.

Kipngetich

Re: Accounting option versus quick books

There are several philosphies when it comes to this question, therefore there are several answers also. Most of what you have to ask yourself and others are, "What do you want your software to do, and what do you want to get out of it?"

My philosophy is that the accountant or auditor is working for me, therefore he must deal with whatever information I give him. Whether it is in FW form, or QB, or any other platform of accounting system, the information is still only as good as what is entered into the program. Which ever accounting system you use is only as good as what you have learned in order to operate it efficiently and effectively.

I have chosen to learn one software program for my accounting purposes, that being FW. Reason being I also enjoy the ability to have all other pertinant information regarding the farm within the same program and integrated. Meaning that when certain things happen or transactions are made they are also accounted for within the whole accounting and record system.

My accountant or auditor sees whatever reports he needs in order to justify my books. This needs to be discussed with them as to just exactly what reports he needs and wants. FW will print any of these reports in detail. Most likely these are "cash" reports.
My banker wants another set of reports when it comes to justifying my credit needs. FW will print these reports in detail as well. These are most likely "accrual" reports.

I have yet to come across any information that cannot be printed to help an accountant, auditor, banker do his/her job for me using FW. One just needs to educate themselves in the proper use of the program to obtain this info.

I like having all this information available to me within one software program, as I like to have the ability to analyze the information for myself at any time, whether it is financial or agronomic.

I don't think the export to another program is possible, and I doubt it will be as with most companies, they like to keep their platforms propietary.

I have expressed my opinion and as you can tell I have opted for the integrated approach of record keeping and accounting with FarmWorks as opposed to the glorified check register of the other programs.

It is a personal decision that only you can answer.

My rant and rave.
