loan interest expense

I had a loan that was interest free for the first year, I 'd like to allocate the payment to the piece of equipment, but when I put the payment in it says invalid amount because there is nothing in the interest expense box. If I do not allocate the payment, it is fine without the interest expense. Is there a way around the interest?

Thanks
