Since there was no money exchanged, after entering the livestock purchase, stay in the Items purchased section. Click on the Other Asset button. Setup a new account called Holding. Enter the dollar amount as a neg. matching the total livestock purchase amount. Leave the offset to NONE. Click OK. This will leave the Total Purchase as zero. Record and Done. If you answer yes to record in Farm Stock, you will need to make the animal group match with Funds. Select the correct Spieces and OK. When the Add Animal box appears, select the correct Location. Click into the Group box and select Add/Edit. When this Add Group button displays, click on the Add Groups Menu and select From FarmFunds. Highlight the matching animal group name and click OK. When you return to the Add Group box, select this new group name from the Current Group Drop Down. Click Record and Done. When you return to the Add Animal box, the group name will then display. The qty etc. should already display. If the Identify individual animals box is already checked and click OK, you will be taken to another Add Animal Group box where you will be required to enter the new animal ID information into the Animal Name box along with other optional information. When complete click OK. You will return to the Record Payment/Purchase screen, click Done<br /><br />Then you will need to go into Record Income or Sales. Purchaser can be you or same as Livestock Purchase transaction. Click onto the Family Living button if this work you were paid for is not a Farm Income, otherwise click on the Other Sales and Expense reductions button. Enter the dollar amount (matching total livestock purchase). Select the correct revenue income account for this income. Click OK. Click on same Other Sales button again . Enter a Neg. matching the work income. Change account on left to Other. Highlight the account name called Holding. Click OK. Total Sales will also be zero.
