-1.00 with our as applied maps

We are using Site Mate VRA to control our Raven controller. When going from a 30 to 25 rate, the as applied rate stays at a -1.0, not a graduated rate. Is this something to do with the 1200 baud rate being too slow (as you stated in our earlier posting)? Also the actual applied rate bounces between -1.00 and the actual applied rate that the raven is sending back. We may get two points with good actual applied rate and then we will get one or two points with the actual applied rates of -1.00.
Also when we import the as applied information, it gives me the object id, RX rate, Rate, Swath width, speed, and heading. We are always getting speed at -999 and heading at -999. Are these numbers that just aren't get recorded for some hook up reason or just can't get recorded because of the low baud rate?

I’ll e-mail you a website where you can go to download a patch for this. Once you install the update, set the Raven to output at a 9600 Baud Rate and set Site Mate to log every second and you should be all set. To clean up the data you have now, load it into Farm Site and use the “Show Me” tool to only display data with a rate less than zero. You can then delete the points.

R. The Raven is set to output at 1 sec and we are recording every 2 sec. Is the download you mentioned needed even with ver 7.1 or was this for earlier versions? The Ravens we are using are 450's and are the brand new models.

The VTG string is turned on in our GPS2000. The Raystar 120 sends out all the strings all the time.

John

Becky,
The problem with the –1 rates is related to the problem with the 1200 baud rate. The programmers are working to get this fixed. If you e-mail or call us Monday, we should be able to get you an update via the website.

With regards to the speed and heading, this does not come from the Raven but instead comes from the GPS receiver (thus it shouldn’t have anything to do with the 1200 Baud rate). This information comes from the VTG string from the GPS receiver. My guess is that the receiver is not set to output VTG. You should have the ability to configure the GPS receiver and somewhere in the settings you should be able to tell it which strings to output. Once you change it to output VTG, you should be set.

I hope this helps!

R. Scott Nusbaum
Farm Works Software
