Re: Make a PDF of Variety Maps

Once the planting data has been imported into vs. 2013.06.551 Fw creates the Variety Layer. Display the Variety Layer and click the Print Map report button (printer button from the Map Tab. When the preview page displays, click on the File Menu and select Printer Setup. At this point we need to have a PDF995 printer driver installed - select this printer driver instead of your regular printer and OK. When you click the Printer icon - instead of getting a printed hard copy it will create a file name.pdf which can be given to Seed Salesmen. Here is a link to where you can get that driver before following the above steps:

PDF995 Driver

Make sure you download and install both the Driver and the Free converter program for this to work.

Re: Raven Viper Pro

I just wanted to add to this as someone that has now had a chance to work with a Raven Viper Pro and Farm Works. The Viper Pro uses shapefiles for prescriptions and also produces a report from spraying as a shapefile.

If you put a blank USB drive in to the Raven Pro you can run a file maintenance setup that will create all the folders you need. The prescription shapefiles can then be transferred from your PC to the USB drive in to the RxMaps folder. The next time the drive is inserted in to the display you will be able to copy your prescriptions to the internal memory of the display. Field boundaries can be uploaded the same way using the "boundaryShp" folder.

The Raven also creates a shapefile report as well as a .bmp image when a job is closed. All of the summary information can be gathered from these. Its just a matter of import the shapefiles as a background rather than importing through the typical Read Task Data option.

Card Preparation Fails

I am trying to Write Task Data to a USB for use in a Case AFS 700. When I try to write the data I keep getting the error message "Preparation failed". I have tried several different USB drives as well as selecting various different inputs, but neither of these steps fix the problem.

I have tried writing the same input variety to the same cards, but for an FMX display and the write was successful.

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Case drivers, but the problem persists.I have also tried using backups and different projects in case those were the issue, but they weren't.

I am just looking for any possible steps to try. The writing operation was working for me earlier in the day and then became an issue after Farm Works froze while writing a card and I had to end task. Hopefully this can give you enough information to give me a possible solution.

Thanks.

Re: Field boundaries to a Greenstar 1

If you are wanting to send Client/farm/fields and boundaries, inputs and Prescription maps to the Greenstar 1 this would be a Write Job Data process.
If you are sending RX maps, there is an extra step that would need done:
Go to the Jobs tab > find your planned job (RX map) > right click on the job > select Work Order > Check Console. This tells the program you want to send this prescription map/planned job out to a display.

To actually Write Job Data:
Go to File > Write Job Data > Highlight Greenstar 1 under John Deere > Select the Resource List button > On the Farms/Fields tab, check the box next to the Client/farm/fields you want to send out > On the Inputs tab, check the Inputs you'd like to send out (Keep in mind, Machines do not read in or write out to John Deere displays) > If you are running the newest version of Farm Works Office v2013.06.551, your Resource List will also have an Options tab - if it does, check the box next to Export Field Boundaries (Keep in mind, Guidance lines do not read in or write out to John Deere displays) > say Ok > back on the Write Job Data screen > Browse to the root directory of your card to save the data on > Say Ok. This will complete the Write Job data process.

Whether or not the Greenstar 1 can be used to log coverage is a question for John Deere hardware support - any questions on functionality of the actual display would need to be directed to them.

As long as the jobs are recorded correctly on the Greenstar 1 and read into FW Office, the Job properties will display the job hours and other specific details as to what was performed.

How the costs of the machines, implements, etc will display in the software will depend on whether or not you have Farm Works Accounting in your software. If you do not, you can apply a $/hour or $/acre, etc to the Inputs in the actual properties of that Input or you can assign the $/acre, hour, etc in the Job Properties (Farming box) in the software once the job is read in from the Greenstar 1.

Hope this helps.
