Basic Class Outline - Classroom Style

With the release of Version 2008, Farm Works users will be able to utilize important new features.  All Farm Works training classes will be taught with Version 2008, however, it is not necessary to own this version.  It is important that attendees do own at least version 12 or higher and installing the software before attending.  Version 12 or higher offered a new interface to the software that is quite different than version 11 or lower.

These training classes are taught “class room” style with the instructor teaching with an overhead projector so that attendees can see how to use the programs. These classes are an excellent way to get exposure to the important areas of each of the Farm Works programs. All Farm Works programs are reviewed in detail in these classes. Additionally, upcoming program features and new programs will be discussed. Instructors are also normally available before and after class to assist with individual questions. Classes in Hamilton, Indiana offer the opportunity for participants to meet Farm Works employees including support technicians and programmers.

Farm Works Software will furnish class materials to participants. The cost of the class includes lunch on both days for all classes. Participants will be able to purchase updates and new programs at all Farm Works classes.

Based on interest, Farm Works will offer split sessions on Day 2 of the two-day training classes. When you sign up for a class, you will be asked for which session you would like to attend. Attendees will have the option to attend one of two sessions as follows:

  • Session 1 - Farm Stock & Farm Funds – The first hour of class is dedicated to Farm Stock. The rest of the morning focuses on setting up and getting started with Farm Funds. The afternoon covers entering transactions into the program and using features such as budget, market value and payroll.
  • Session 2 - Farm Site Mate, Trac Mate, Guide Mate and Precision Ag Hardware – This session focuses on the use of the various Farm Works “Mate” programs in the field. The session on Trac Mate covers entering field records and synchronizing with your desktop. The Site Mate session covers making various Site Mate maps and bringing these maps back into the desktop program. The session also covers the use of Site Mate VRA and Guide Mate. When possible, a representative of Raven Industries will give a presentation on the use of Precision Ag Hardware including GPS, Lightbars and Variable Rate Controllers. Some classes will include “hands-on” training in an outdoor setting.

Both sessions will be held simultaneously on the second day (provided there is enough interest in each session). Attendees can attend either session, or they can split their day between the two sessions. Breaks and Lunch will be held at the same time so attendees can move between classes without interruption. While we do our best to stay with the detailed outline, there is no guarantee that the material listed in the outline will be covered within the time frame that is listed.

If desired, attendees may bring along a laptop computer and/or a Pocket PC with their Farm Works Software modules installed. These are not required for the class, but they can be helpful.
